Sutton Strollers (walking group)

On 14th May the walking group will be visiting Dunton Community Garden. We will meet at the village hall at 10am. All welcome!

 

We aim to have a walk the second Saturday of every other month, so do come and join us.

 

Dogs on a lead are welcome.

Sutton duck race 2022

The ducks are back and will be ready to race at Sutton Ford at 3pm on Sunday 22nd May.

Tickets cost £1 from any member of the hall committee or at the ford on the afternoon of the race. 

1st prize: £150

2nd prize: £50

3rd prize: £25

Refreshments at The Old Rectory, Sutton before and after the race.

If the race cannot take place, it will be postponed or a draw will take place for the winners.

Sutton platinum jubilee celebrations

Feel free to dress up in 50s style or in red, white and blue to celebrate this event with us! Apart from the sparkling wine served at the reception, it's bring-your-own drinks, so please come prepared. 

  • 1pm drinks reception.

  • 2 course lunch: coronation chicken, couscous salad, desserts.

  • Presentation of prizes for art, poetry and Jubilee planter competitions.

  • Tea, coffee, Jubilee cake.

  • 50s music.

Tickets: Adult £5 Child £2.50 (packed lunch option).

Please pay Sutton Village Hall by 25th May at the latest.

Plant a pot competition for the platinum jubilee

Plant a pot or planter for the platinum jubilee celebrations!

 

Please deliver it to the hall by Friday 3rd June for the judging at 12 noon. 

A prize will be awarded to the winner during the celebration at the village hall on Saturday 4th June (see above).

Joe Broughton's Folk Ensemble

We are delighted to announce the return of Joe Broughton's Folk Ensemble, a group of some 40+ young musicians from the Birmingham Conservatoire.

There will be a licensed bar.

Hotbuckle's Great Expectations

We look forward to welcoming back the theatre group Hotbuckle with their adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations".

Coffee mornings 2022

 Coffee mornings are back at their usual time of Saturday 11am to 1pm on the following dates:

  • 9th April - followed by a demo on the defibrillator.

  • 13th August

  • 8th October

  • 10th December

All Sutton residents are welcome, especially if you are new to the village. We'd love to meet you!

Sutton artist and poet of the year 2022

As this year is the Queen's platinum jubilee, the theme of our competition is Celebration. Entry is free and open to all residents of the Parish of Sutton. There are two categories: adult and junior (under 13 years).

 

Please submit your artwork (not exceeding 30 x 40cms) and/or your poem to The Croft, Church Rd, Sutton by 30th April 2022, including your name, email and phone number on a separate piece of paper.

 

Entries will be displayed and trophies awarded to the winners at the platinum jubilee celebration in the village hall on Saturday 4th June. Contact us for further details.
